Dr. Tiffany Wynn
CEO & CCO
Dr. Wynn has been engaged in the behavioral health community across the United States for over 20 years. She has supported her communities as a behavioral health CEO/ ED, Clinical graduate core faculty, department chair, therapist, state department director, author, and parent. Dr. Wynn has published work grounded in intersectional theory - focused on gender and sexuality equity, leadership, and erasure of community of members based on identity. Her other research includes quantitative analyses of treatment practices as they relate to outcomes for those identifying with minority statuses. Dr. Wynn has supported numerous students and professionals in their clinical, theoretical, and supervisory development.
Dr. Wynn has supported several behavioral health organizations in restructuring and revisioning operations from a trauma responsive lens. She has worked across the children and adult systems. Dr. Wynn has a strong understanding of Medicaid and state funding systems and how to utilize them efficiently for community based practice. From billing to intervention Dr. Wynn is a specialist!

Matthew Pettit
Comprehensive Community Support Services Program Director
Mr. Matthew Pettit is the founder of Healing Roar, and is now the NECC Comprehensive Community Support Services Program Director. He is a community health worker, community support worker, and a certified peer support worker. Mr. Pettit has leveraged his lived experience and his passion for serving his community to build harm reduction services that offer an alternative pathway to recovery for many New Mexicans. Mr. Pettit currently works with the NMSU quality improvement team and providers integrated quality service review services to programs all over the state!

Mr. Pettit additionally serves his community through NECC and Healing Roar, as well as through the UNM ECHO program, D.O.P.E. Services, Endorphine, and De-Serving Life. He is currently completing his college experience with CNM and embarking on his Licensed Substance Use Associate application.

Bob is a licensed alcohol and drug abuse counselor (LADAC) whose professional life has been defined by service, advocacy, and lived experience. Over many years he has worked across treatment, prevention, and recovery-support settings—building programs, mentoring SUD therapists, and supporting people and families at every stage of the recovery journey. Bob’s approach is grounded in excellence, respect for individual dignity, and an insistence on services that are both humane and accountable.

Ethical, regulated services: A longtime advocate for strong regulatory and ethical standards, Bob promotes transparency, quality assurance, and safe clinical environments where clients can heal without stigma.

Recovery community advocacy: Bob has been a pillar of the recovery community in New Mexico—working with peer networks, recovery organizations, and families to expand access to supports, reduce barriers, and create recovery-friendly systems of care.

Collaborative, multidisciplinary care: He emphasizes collaboration across medical, behavioral health, social service, and community-based partners to ensure coordinated, wraparound support for clients.

In his role as Lead Therapist, Bob will oversee clinical programming, develop and refine curriculum for group and individual treatment, mentor IOP clinicians, and strengthen partnerships with community recovery resources. His lived experience and long-standing community ties will inform programming that is both clinically rigorous and deeply responsive to the needs of people in recovery.

Shannon Stephenson is an extraordinary licensed alcohol and drug addiction counselor (LADAC) and an MSW candidate in her final year at Ohio University. As a therapist and MSW Intern at New Experiences Counseling & Consultation (NECC), Shannon brings deep clinical expertise, strong leadership experience, and boundless compassion to every client and team she supports. Her energy, dedication, and unwavering commitment to healing make her a remarkable and trusted clinician.

A proud multiracial clinician, Shannon powerfully weaves her cultural identity, professional training, and lived experience into every aspect of client care. She specializes in treating substance use and co-occurring mental health concerns using culturally responsive, trauma-informed, and strength-based approaches. Shannon’s assessments are thorough, her case conceptualizations are insightful, and her clinical judgment consistently elevates the quality of care across the NECC team.
Shannon is a fierce advocate for equity, collaboration, and measurable recovery. She partners closely with each person she serves to build individualized, evidence-informed treatment plans that honor their values, strengths, and goals. Compassionate, inspiring, and results-oriented, Shannon is truly exceptional in helping people heal, grow, and reclaim their lives.

NECC Internship Program
The New Experiences Counseling and Consultation (NECC) Internship Program is highly competitive. Applicants must contact NECC the semester before they wish to begin to be considered; candidates are ranked based on interview performance and application responses, and only the top 2% of applicants will be accepted.
